Can't wait - Florida here we come!

Hi all,

Yep, I'm the new guy, and my wife and I are two weeks from a return to Florida.  I can't believe it's been TWO years.

We're gonna be sure to visit Playalinda, Apollo and Blind Creek to get some current photos for the site and take the pulse of the relationships between the park's management and us nekked Naturists.

More to come...

Playalinda... as beautiful as ever!

I had an opportunity this past Sunday to visit Playalinda beach for the first time in a couple of years. Often, we get busy and our priorities change, and we let slip the things we hold dear. This brief visit reminded me how much I cherish this beach and I promised myself I would re-evaluate my priorities and no longer put off the enjoyment it has to offer.

I saw no warning signs about nude sunbathing or about the Brevard ordinance, although it's possible I missed them.

I have some concerns about the drifting of clothing optional use into area 12, primarily due to parking shortage at 13. I saw no rangers or deputies, and everyone seemed happy and well behaved.

I look forward to returning soon. Please comment and share any experiences you may find helpful to other visitors. Be mindful of the advisory at the top of this blog.

Please feel free to use the comments for clarification, additional info related to the post, or suggestions that would be helpful to others.

This is a family-oriented site, and Playalinda and Appollo are  family-oriented beaches that are clothing-optional at the last crossover area, so please be respectful!

**NOTE** All info posted as well as comments in response to a post can be viewed by law enforcement,  politicians, and nudity opponents, so consider whether you want the information/comment in your post to be viewed by them as well as the naturist public.

Playalinda blog restarted!

After a long lapse, we have regained access to our blog and hope to establish a continuing dialog between Playalinda beach-goers and the public.

Please submit comments about your visits to the beach or questions that we or others may answer.

Changes in top National Park Service leadership

Hmm, guess what else happened in October 2006.

Fran Mainella is no longer the Director of the National Park Service. She was replaced by Mary Bomar, the current Director, in October 2006.

See http://home.nps.gov/pwr/directors-welcome.htm

Also, Patricia Hooks resigned as Southeast Region Director. Currently Art Frederick is the Acting Director.

So there has been quite a shakeup just as Carol Clark decided to start a new naturist pogrom.

Rogue Snap-Happy Ranger Last Saturday, 2007.09.15

On Saturday, September 15 a Ranger Marble was reported to be running his Mule truck up to naturists and snapping pictures of them in the nude at very close range.

This behavior in a federal employee - harassing tourists in this way - is bizarre and inappropriate. Unfortunately this and other rogue ranger behaviors remind me all too much of how it was when Wendell Simpson ran the park. What it is about naturists that drives these people nuts, after 9 years of peace. So its the bad old days back again. However even with Simpson I don't recall this kind of in-your-face aggression as we are getting with Clark.

I have sent a complaint and a picture to the Canaveral National Seashore. Hopefully they will stop this particular harassment behavior. They would have to be crazy to allow it.

latest info

On sat 15th, there were two visits from brevard county sheriffs dept. Both times consisted of one officer driving to parking lot #13, walking to the top of the crossover, viewing no one nude and returning to his beat 30 + miles away. I think the brevard county taxpayer would be pissed off if they really knew how the sheriff chooses to spend $$$. The NPS ranger that some refer to as mini me came out to crossover 13 and took pictures of the sunbathers north just before the afternoon visit, I guess to show the deputy that when he's not there, nude sunbathers are. Hopefully the sheriff will see through this latest attempt by the National Park Service to rid nude recreation from the seashore, and tell the NPS to do it on their own powers, finances, etc and leave him alone. Smart move on his part for re-election next time around.
